Deck builder, Richmond.

Ottawa Decking Solutions is a licensed, insured deck, fence and interlock builder working in Richmond, the village on the Jock River that has been part of the City of Ottawa since 2001. Every project is designed in 3D before a single board is cut.

Good to know

Richmond questions, answered.

Yes. Richmond has been inside City of Ottawa limits since the 2001 amalgamation, and it sits on our regular service area between Stittsville and Manotick, so it is not a special trip and it does not carry an out-of-area charge. The process is the one we run anywhere in the city: a free consultation, an on-site visit to measure the yard and check the grade, then a 3D and AutoCAD design so you approve the exact layout, material and an honest price before a single board is cut. We are licensed, insured and family-owned, and every build is backed by a written workmanship warranty.

It can, and this is the question worth asking before you design anything. Richmond sits in the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority's watershed, and land close to the Jock River or to wetlands can be regulated, which means the Authority's permission may be needed on top of a City of Ottawa building permit. Whether that applies depends on where your property actually sits rather than on the street it is on, so we confirm the requirements for your specific address during the site visit instead of assuming a neighbour's build sets the rule. If both are needed we prepare the drawings and handle the applications as part of the build.

It changes the design more than the price. Village-edge and rural Richmond lots tend to be larger and less level than a suburban yard, with more grade change to work with and more room to use, which is where multi-level decks, stairs and a proper sightline from the house start to matter. Larger properties are also more likely to be on a well and septic system, and footings need to stay clear of a septic bed and its lines. We locate all of that during the on-site visit, because a deck is only as stable as what its footings bear on and only as usable as the layout you actually approved.

Not tagged as such, no, and we would rather say that plainly than attach a location to a photo we cannot confirm. Our project gallery is currently organized by the type of work rather than by neighbourhood, so we cannot point at a specific image and tell you it was built in Richmond. What we can show you is our full gallery of real, finished Ottawa decks, fences and interlock work, built by the same crew, from the same materials, through the same 3D and AutoCAD design process we would use on your project. As we start tagging projects by location we will add verified Richmond photos here instead of a general gallery link.
